Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Urban Development and Energy Minister A.K. Sharma conducted an inspection of the Ghosi Cooperative Sugar Mill to assess its preparedness for the upcoming sugarcane crushing season, directing officials to complete all necessary arrangements within the stipulated timeline to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
During his visit, the minister reviewed the mill’s plant facilities, machinery, workforce availability, contractual staffing, internal road network and other essential infrastructure. He undertook a detailed inspection of the premises and sought updates from officials on operational readiness, stressing that no shortcomings should remain before the commencement of the new crushing season.
Sharma said the welfare of farmers must remain the highest priority and emphasised that the mill should be fully equipped to provide efficient services and uninterrupted operations. He instructed officials to ensure that every aspect of the facility, from machinery to logistics, is brought up to the required standard before the season begins.
The minister directed the mill’s General Manager to prepare a comprehensive and practical proposal covering modernisation, critical repairs, machinery upgrades, manpower requirements, contractual workforce arrangements and infrastructure improvements. He said the proposal should be submitted to the state government at the earliest so that priority projects can be taken up without delay.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to strengthening the cooperative sugar sector, Sharma said the objective is to transform cooperative sugar mills into modern, technology-driven units with enhanced crushing capacity and improved operational efficiency. Such initiatives, he added, would not only boost productivity but also ensure that farmers receive timely benefits from their sugarcane produce.
The inspection forms part of the state’s efforts to upgrade cooperative sugar mills and improve their performance ahead of the forthcoming crushing season, with a focus on better infrastructure, modern equipment and streamlined management.
